What began as a poetic notion of ‘reflecting sky into wood’ has, thus far, stretched into a thirteen-year project. I source the parts of a felled tree, the branches and the twisting boughs, that are overlooked and undervalued. I cherish the provenance of the wood as it gives roots to the work. I split open timbers revealing hidden beauty and narratives which I reflect back and forward through meticulously cut mirrors. In merging these manmade and natural materials and siting these sculptures, both inside and outside, I generate tangible experiences between the viewer, object and the environment.
